The investigation described in this article examined an oligodynamic water disinfection method employing metal ions (Ag+, Cu2+, Au) generated by an electrolytic process. The efficacy of using different silver/copper/gold combinations (within the limits of current drinking water regulations) for killing Escherichia coli, Legionella pneumophila, Salmonella, Vibrio cholerae, and other pathogens were examined.
