Critical Transmission Range for Connectivity in Ad-Hoc Networks

  • Chapter
Book cover New Technologies, Mobility and Security

Abstract

One of the challenging problems in the ad hoc networks is how to determine the critical transmission range for each communicating node to achieve a connected network with minimum power consumption and communication interference. In this paper, an analytical approach is proposed to determine this parameter based on the number of nodes, physical dimensions of the network, and probability of connectivity. Our proposed approach resulted in Cumulative Distribution Functions (CDF) for the critical transmission range for various numbers of nodes
