Science educators have a prepare scientifically literate students who understand the concepts, principles, theories, processes of science and limitations of scientific knowledge, and have an awareness of the complex relationships between science, technology, and society (Abd-El-Khalick, Bell, & Lederman, 1998; American Association for the Advancement of Science [AAAS], 1990, 1993; Millar & Osbourne, 1998).
