Abstract
Changes in DNA result in variations among off spring (chapter 11). As a result, variant organisms achieve greater or lesser reproductive success depending on interactions with their local population, with partners in symbiosis, and with their environments (chapter 12). These processes have produced the vast diversity of organisms from a common ancestor. It has taken an immense amount of time for them to do so.
