Abstract
This chapter focuses on the cycle of Entry–Exit, which marks the beginning of the administrative passage. It discusses the new assistant principals’ reasons for becoming assistant principals, their pre-role preparation, and the strategies they use in order to create an administrative pathway. The threshold tensions, dilemmas, and rites of passage that the novices experience as they leave their teaching role and enter administrative territory are also described.
