Abstract

We have all witnessed tremendous advances in technology over the last 50 years, affecting our everyday lives, and in many cases making our lives easier. Technology does not discriminate between criminals and law abiding citizens — it is freely, and increasingly cheaply, available to all sectors of society. It is unfortunate that often criminals are the first to recognise the benefits of new technology, to embrace it and use it — law enforcement agencies then have to respond, and adopt counter measures.
