Magnetoelectric Interaction Phenomena in Crystals

Part of the book series: NATO Science Series ((NAII,volume 164))

Abstract

Polarization dependence of second harmonic generation (SHG) is studied for magneto-electric crystals RMnO3 (R = Y and Er), GaFeO3 and BiFeO3. Domain structures of ferroelectric and antiferromagnetic YMnO3 have been clarified by interference effects of SHG signals. Coupling of two order parameters at the domain boundary is studied by microscopic models and group theory.
