Abstract

The in service inspection (ISI) for the reactor vessel of the fast breeder reactor MONJU is performed in a severe environment of elevated temperature (about 200 centigrade) and high level radiation field (about I000R/h). The main function of 15I is a visual examination to detect the leakage of liquid sodium, the coolant of the reactor. As a parallel inspection item, electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) is utilized as a nondestructive testing (NDT) method for volumetric inspection.
