Abstract
In recent years, the concept of staging has become important in cancer management. As systemic methods of treatment have become increasingly used, so it has become necessary to define the extent of tumour spread. Tumour staging, therefore, can be used to determine those patients who may require chemotherapy. As a corollary, it may be also used to define those patients who may not require systemic therapy, because the tumour is localised.
