Sampling and Pulse Code Modulation

  • Chapter
Modern Communication Systems

Part of the book series: Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Abstract

In the previous three chapters, we have discussed the modulation of a sinusoidal carrier of a suitably high frequency by means of an analogue baseband-signal such as a speech or music waveform. The object of modulation was primarily to achieve a relocation of baseband information at a carrier frequency that was suitable for electromagnetic propagation.
