Waving with Irons

Abstract

In this method of producing waves or curls, heated irons of various shapes are used to soften and form the hair. The effects compare favourably with other heat-moulded techniques, for example heated rollers and blow styling. Although waving with irons is no longer fashionable it remains a good exercise of hand, tool and hair control and methods of iron-waving can be applied to modern styling and fashion. Appreciation of wave shape, and the discipline derived from its practice, are invaluable.
