Abstract
Discussion in the previous chapters centred on the various forms in which energy can appear as properties of a material system, together with the two distinct ways in which energy can transfer as non-properties across the boundary between the system and its environment. This chapter concerns the conversion of energy from one form or transfer to another, and the laws that govern the rate of exchange between them.
