Abstract

Many industrial microprocessor applications require the measurement of forces in structures or the weights of process materials etc. Forces are usually measured indirectly, one possibility being to measure the degree of stretching or compression they cause in connecting links that carry the forces. The basis of measurement is that the change in length is proportional to the force, up to a certain limit.
