Abstract

A steel-framed, multi-storey building is required for the shopping centre of a large town. An architect was employed by the company requiring the new premises and architectural drawings were made showing the plan and elevations of the proposed building. Close consultation took place between the customer, architect, and structural engineer. Approval of the proposals was obtained from the local authority and from the fire prevention officer during the planning stage and before building work commenced on the site.
