Abstract
The machine chosen for analysis is the 18-inch ‘Super Shaper’ manufactured by The Butler Machine Tool Company Limited, Halifax. The Author wishes to acknowledge his indebtedness to that Company and to Taylor Industrial Clutches Ltd., Castleton, Lancs. (whose clutch is incorporated in the drive of the machine), for the help and consideration which have been given to him and which have made possible this analysis. The interpretation of the design is the Author’s own however, and the responsibility for the work which follows must be his.
