Abstract
Rotary Motion. An essential feature of any machine is that one or more of its parts must be capable of motion. This motion is never random but is always determined by some form of constraint imposed by adjacent parts. These parts, in turn, may be either at rest or moving subject to the constraint of other parts. The kinds of movement possible are as varied as the functions which machines are called upon to perform, but none is nearly so universal as rotary motion.
