Abstract
The American merchant marine got off to a good start in coping with the labour problems arising out of automation and mechanisation on the generation of ships which came into existence with the launching of the Constellation Class of vessels of the Moore-McCor-mack Lines, Inc., and the Challenger II Class of the United States Lines Co. In addition, Lykes Bros. Steamship Co., Inc., has a series of similar ships under construction as part of the Gulf Clipper Class and Grace Line, Inc., is likewise planning to build six automated or mechanised 10,000-ton freighters.
