A Comparative Study of Exports by Industrial Areas
In the last chapter, we came to the conclusion that the rate of growth of merchandise exports has exerted (via the balance of trade) a strong influence on the ability of the six countries to expand imports, and, hence, to stimulate growth. We also saw, in Chapter I, that exports may have had a direct impact on the rate of growth of home demand by encouraging, or inhibiting, investment.
