A Comparative Study of Exports by Industrial Areas

  • A. Lamfalussy

Abstract

In the last chapter, we came to the conclusion that the rate of growth of merchandise exports has exerted (via the balance of trade) a strong influence on the ability of the six countries to expand imports, and, hence, to stimulate growth. We also saw, in Chapter I, that exports may have had a direct impact on the rate of growth of home demand by encouraging, or inhibiting, investment.
