Abstract

The year 1895 was annus mirabilis in the company’s early history. The accounts up to 30 June that year showed a profit of £2,161,778. The annual meeting, held at the Cannon Street Hotel on 6 November, was the most cheerful occasion anyone connected with Consolidated Gold Fields could recall.
