Abstract

The previous chapters on electricity have been primarily concerned with the effects of steady currents in circuits, although mention was made of the electrostatic forces which exist between separated electric charges. We must now study the nature of these forces in more detail and, in particular, give a precise meaning to the concept of the electric field.
