Summary

This paper, after a brief mention of some classical configurations of machining centres for nuclear vessels, presents the different phases in the design of a large rototraversing doughnut-type table, typical equipment for the machining of ‘internals’. The interactive use of experimental tests on machines and models and of CAD have permitted a rationalisation of the project.
