Summary

In this paper it will be stated that it is possible within the field of production preparation, that is in design and work planning, to achieve great rationalisation effects by automatic data processing using the variant principle. By means of the system proposed, which is designed for automatic set-up of drawings and work plans, it is possible to reduce the costs of planning and the total throughput time. Additionally, the quality of planning can be improved. All methods and auxiliaries which are used for this system are described, as well as the range of its application.
