Abstract
This paper attempts to outline some of the issues in economic management in India as these have emerged through two decades and more of planned development and, in particular, during the recent phase of economic stagnation and instability. Its limited object is to suggest an approach and to map out a field of study which now merits much closer attention than has been given to it in the past.
