Summary
The servo-hydraulic testing machine, tool set-up and heating system have been developed to simulate modern high speed hot working processes by the flat compression test. In comparison with the previous methods the deformation conditions of this test are much more similar to those of hot rolling. A whole rolling schedule including a controlled cooling and coiling is simulated by the computer-controlled deformation and automated auxiliary functions of the tool.
