Bagshot Park near the undistinguished town of Bagshot on the A30 was once the estate of Prince Arthur of Connaught, Queen Victoria’s third son and governor general of Canada from 1911 to 1916. Bagshot Park is now a military training college, and special permission is required to enter the grounds. But the estate does contain the memorial chapel of the Royal Army Chaplain’s Department with the names of Commonwealth chaplains inscribed on oak panels, including nine Canadians who lost their lives in the last war.
