Abstract
In this chapter we consider how the concluding pages of Charlotte Brontë’s novels draw together some of the ideas we have been exploring, especially nature, religion, and the social position of women. The style of the extracts will require as much attention as their content, for it is just as important. As usual, however, we shall allow the novels to determine the direction of discussion.
