Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to explore the relationship between nationalism and supranationalism by examining the case of contemporary Scotland. Thus, the concern here is with the relationship between contemporary Scottish nationalism and the process of European integration. The starting point is the proposition that European integration is a form of supranationalism; this issue will be returned to later for further discussion.
