Abstract
Blake in the Nineties is an assessment of Blake’s own work in the 1790s but also a consideration of critical debates during the 1990s. It draws on three main traditions of Blake criticism over the past decade: editorial, hermeneutic and historical. The third component was the primary concern of an earlier volume, Historicizing Blake (1994), which was intended to provide a broadly cultural-materialist reorientation to then current theoretical preoccupations.
