Abstract
In business, owing to factors such as increasing international competition and the resulting need to market products worldwide, international merger and acquisition activity and new market access opportunities (for instance in Eastern Europe), more and more managers and other staff will be confronted at least once in their careers with the opportunity to take on an international assignment or become an expatriate working and living in a foreign country.
