Abstract
The work of John Cornwall has been widely described as both Post-Keynesian and institutionalist. Such designations are both appropriate because, as well as developing Post-Keynesian ideas, Cornwall makes frequent reference to the role of institutions and to institutionalism. Furthermore, he makes particularly extensive use of the work of Nicholas Kaldor, who was one of the Post-Keynesians closest to institutionalist tradition. For instance, Kaldor’s mentor Allyn Young was an admirer of Veblen, and Kaldor explicitly and repeatedly acknowledged the influence of the institutionalist Gunnar Myrdal.
