Abstract
The chapter is concerned with understanding and experiencing a ‘mainstreaming’ approach to equal opportunities in public sector organisations. It is constructed as a role play exercise, using materials derived from local authorities. The exercise requires people to play the parts of councillors, officers and union representatives, prepare short presentations and hold a meeting of the Equal Opportunities Member-Officer Working Group in order to make progress on the Council’s EO strategy.
