Abstract
The schooling of youngsters constitutes a major aspect of the integration of the Haitian community in American society. The schools not only socialize the youngsters in American ways and prepare them to be productive members of society but also give youngsters a knowledge of English that allows them to serve as intermediaries between their parents and the wider society.
