Abstract

The combination of the process of nuclear disarmament and the process of European integration might lead to a new nuclear debate in Europe comparable with the Euromissile debate at the beginning of the eighties. The question is: what about the French (and maybe British) nuclear weapons in the case that foreign and security policy (including defence) will become mainly the domain of ‘Europe’ as the Treaty of Maastricht (1991) implies?
