Abstract
Friedrich Nietzsche was born in 1844 and died in 1900. He was a brilliant scholar who became Professor of Classical Philology in the University of Basel at the age of 25. He volunteered for army service during the Franco-Prussian war and served in the medical corps before being invalided out.
