Abstract

January 1993 brought new international characters on to the Middle East scene, one of whom was Bill Clinton, now president of the United States. Clinton was inexperienced in the international field, being a former governor of Arkansas. He was thought to be pro-Jewish, but no one, least of all the Israelis, was absolutely sure.
