Payment for Caring — Mapping a Territory

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Women in Society ((WOSOFEL))

Abstract

The issue of payment for care is, as I shall argue in this chapter of increasing interest to the social policy community. It raises traditional questions of equity, quality, professionalisation, as well as being a topic that is appropriately addressed by the now well-established feminist perspective on social policy. I will outline why the topic is growing in importance in Britain, and also point up some of the dilemmas (many of them moral) that arise from considering the issues involved.
