Abstract
The previous chapters have shown that the role of international finance in the Thai economy has increased over the last two decades. It has been argued, in particular, that Thailand can finance high levels of investment only with the aid of external capital. This chapter sets out to investigate this financial dependence in more detail, and will analyse the impact of external finance on the Thai economy, concentrating on the period 1975–86.
