Abstract
Today there are 28 countries in the world, with a total population of 836 million, in which Muslims have an overall majority. Many more countries have sizeable Muslim minorities. The total world Muslim population is around 1.2 billion, or one-quarter of the total world population. And even in Europe, heartland of Christianity, Muslim immigration and conversion has led to Islam being the second largest religion.
