Abstract
This paper examines the probable impact of various European eco-labelling programmes, especially the eco-labelling scheme of the European Union (EU) on the export of textiles and garments from Turkey to European markets. The research for the paper was carried out in the form of interviews with representatives of various institutions and companies.1 Section I summarizes the basic positions of the bodies interviewed, while section II provides a summary of the conjectures that emerged during an item-by-item analysis of the list of criteria used in the EU eco-labelling programme.
