They start when the child begins to learn that they are not alone in this world, and they gradually becomes aware of belonging to a family, a neighbourhood, a group of children, a gender, an ethnic group, a cultural group, a socio-economic group, a community, a religion, a city, a country . . . a civilization, and to humankind.
