The Behaviourist Approach to Personal Change
- 28 Downloads
Some of the reasons for approaching with caution programmes that promise to bring about personal change are given at the beginning of this chapter. The chapter then goes on to look at the relations between personality, circumstances and behaviour.
There are three kinds of changes in behaviour that may be desired: a decrease in unwanted behaviour, an increase in wanted behaviour and a change in emotional reactions. How a person can carry out these changes will be explained.
Certain problems may arise when a person designs his or her own self-change plan. Four of these problems are examined at the end of this chapter.
