Abstract
Research on the internationalisation of firms has traditionally been focused on manufacturing firms. This focus has been natural, since these types of firms have had significant historical importance in international trade and national development. Today, there is an increasing attention on service firms, which can be explained by the growing importance service industries have in industrialised countries.
