Abstract
As a feminist studying sport, I consider it important to explore the connections between knowledge about women and the way that such knowledge is produced, thus:
... the only viable analyses of gender and sport are those that provide both a critical and historical analysis of the ideological foundations of our past and ongoing research. (Hall 1988: 331)
