Abstract

Over the past ten years health professionals traditionally associated with in-patient care have been increasingly employed in the provision of care in the community. Some have had an entirely community focus others have covered both spheres. The professions covered by the Council to the Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM) include the following:

  • chiropodists,

  • dietitians,

  • medical laboratory technicians,

  • occupational therapists,

  • physiotherapists,

  • radiographers, and

  • orthoptists.
