Abstract

An American Jewish soldier was in China during the Second World War. He walked into a building one Saturday. Lo and behold, he saw a small group of Chinese men, chanting in Hebrew and reading from a scroll. To his amazement, he realized that they were Jews. After the service, he went up to the cantor and told him, that he too was a Jew. The cantor looked at him in astonishment and finally asked in broken English, ‘Funny, you no look Jewish’.
