Abstract

Information has become a central feature of management planning and control. The application of information technology to the process of planning and control of supply chain activities is well documented and the focus of this chapter is on how information can make logistics decisions more effective. The chapter first considers the role of information management in the development of supply chain strategy, and then discusses the issues from an operational perspective. The discussion dealing with operational issues will look at requirements planning and the role of information.
