Abstract
It has been recognised by politicians, central banks, the European Commission and other authorities, and by the financial community, that the introduction of a single currency in the European Union would be a major undertaking, taking years to plan and implement and with a significant cost. However, until now there has been inadequate information about the practicalities.
This is a shortened version (by the ACE Secretariat) of the APACS/BBA report, issued on 23 February 1995, of a British survey undertaken in conjunction with the European Banking Federation.
