Abstract

Exercises to test your accuracy are very important if you want to speak correctly – but if you simply want to understand and make yourself understood, then you can afford to make mistakes in gender and number. In fact, native speakers make many errors themselves and have no trouble in getting by! Do try, though, to get your verb endings reasonably accurate. As you know, Spanish does not need the personal pronouns (yo, tú, usted) so if you do use the wrong ending, everyone (including you!) will be very confused. Infact, it may be a good idea to use the pronouns yourself until you feel more confident with verb endings. In this course, the early exercises have been designed to promote accuracy: the last exercise, And finally …, allows you a little more freedom of expression.
