Abstract
There’s only a handful of nouns to watch out for in this unit and they will be useful in connection with any town: Rathaus (town hall), Museum, Kirche (church) and the various words for ‘cathedral’ such as Münster, Kathedrale and Dom. Next come adjectives such as alt (old), neu (new), romantisch (romantic), modern (modern) and historisch (historic). As far as the weather is concerned, it’s up to you to decide how much detail you want to absorb at this stage. You might just like to stick to a few basics such as Sonne (sun) and Regen (rain) and come back to this topic later. Before you start, think about your own town and ask yourself what terms you would need to describe it. As you progress through this unit, draw up a list of words that will be especially useful to you. Then come back to the same question at the end of the unit and try to answer it in German.
