Abstract

In any humanitarian response one of the most routine but critical activities is the collection and dissemination of accurate information about the emergency. During the Rwanda response in 1994, the US Agency for International Development established within the US Government the Rwanda Information Center (RIC) to receive, synthesise and disseminate information on the crisis. It was highly effective and may serve as a prototype for information dissemination for other governments and organisations in future humanitarian responses.
